FASHION TIPS
It was words that "the human being is a monkey of the wearing clothes" of Mutsuo Takahashi, in the book of "East meets West" which introduced the design activity of Issey Miyake, that led me to the world of the fashion at the end of 1970's. Clothes separate the human being and an animal, cross the border, and change with the time reflecting society; I would like to make the change by my hands, and be involved myself with society, doing so. And I decided a fashion as a lifework.
Since then, in the fashion period of maturity of the 80's when the high sensitivity market appeared and the brand shops gained power. In 90's of price slashing and diversification the SPA and concept shops appeared after the collapse of the 'bubble' economy. After 2001 as the times when a fashion makes it bipolar, the world strategy of luxury brands and Value SPA contended with each other. I started my career as an apparel designer and after as a fashion director. I engaged with the merchandising, production, and sales promotion, and I was fortunate to feel change of such a time. The network of today's ProStuff was stimulated by the encounter with the planning companies, textile makers, sewing factories, designers, and patterners in Japan, Southeast Asia, or Europe, and has built.
Also, I came to be engaged in the education of the student from the front for five years. Therefore, I am anxious about the future of fashion these days.
Especially H&M that has been noticed in Europe and the United States opened its shop in Japan in autumn of 2008, and it was a shock too. It is high merchandise turnover ratio and pursuit of short-term profits. The feature of the gfast fashionh that always reflects trend is made to the increase in purchase frequency. Reasonable price and the fashionable taste have stimulated the young customerfs interest, and have gained the support beyond anticipation. However, on the other hand, the mass production and mass consumption by many kinds and small lot that against the flow of the times to aim at the sustainable society.
May it be a business model it stimulates greed, and to drive consumption to succeed in the next era from our generation who seethed with a bubble economy and experienced the collapse?
It is said that the American style liberalism economy collapsed. Is it possible to turn from conventional material stimulus type marketing? I want to search directionality to the new future in 2009.
Can fashion dream of the 21st century?
